Description
Spoofing or jamming of GNSS signals impacting aircraft systems that are reliant upon this input, resulting in misleading or the unavailability of navigation and/or surveillance information. Leading to controlled flight into terrain or mid-air collision.
The spoofing of TCAS (ACAS) specifically can lead to the generation of phantom aircraft on navigation displays and false traffic advisories or resolution advisories.
The risk is exacerbated by the proposed withdrawal of ground based navigation aids such as VOR/DME resulting in increased dependence upon satellite based navigation aids.
