Description
The closure of a major aerodrome(s) due to unforeseen circumstances, such as adverse weather or drone infringement, may lead to a large number of aircraft diverting to an alternative aerodrome.
Inadequate contingency planning by aerodromes/air navigation service providers may place a huge amount of pressure on the system, with an increased risk of aircraft landing with less than their final reserve fuel.
This event may be worsened when operator has not accounted for destination alternate in collaboration with other relevant or applicable stakeholders.
